Artists get their inspiration from all over the place. They find new muses everywhere they look and use them to stretch the limits of their creativity and create truly unique things. But one artist chose a particularly special (and controversial) way to reach the distant corners of his own mind.

Bryan Pollet, a San Francisco-based artist, decided to go as far as he could. Every day for 20 days, Pollet tried a different type of mind-altering substance, from “lighter” ones to “heavier” ones, and each time, he took advantage of their effects to create mesmerizing and complex pieces of artwork, and as you are about to see, the results are absolutely incredible.

“I wanted to create an opportunity to educate, both regarding hard drugs and regarding art,” says Pollet of the reason he started the experiment. “Imagine that the past, the future and the present don’t exist,” added Pollet. “You could just focus on your existence in this moment. The idea of tomorrow would be ridiculous. Using the drugs, I could create without fear of external judgement and without analyzing too much what I was doing and do it intuitively, honestly and enjoyably.”

Pollet’s project is not the first of its kind. In the past, there have been other artists who have presented their work after creating under the influence. But we have to admit, this project is pretty special. Have a look:
