Right before he became a tattoo artist, Mo Ganji, a Berlin-based artist originally from Iran, was  one of the leading companies in the fashion industry. His work required that he travel to many places around the world to see where his clothing came from. It took a few years, but Ganji eventually understood the unbelievable amount of damage the fashion industry is causing young children, creating undercompensated workers who live in some of the most horrid conditions one could imagine.

“After you are exposed to these things, you can have one of two responses: either you care, or you don’t,” says Ganji. “The reason that I dropped out of the industry and started tattooing is because I care. My last career was based on values that I just don’t agree with.”

Ganji settled in Berlin and opened a successful tattoo parlor where he can show off his skills, the crown jewels of which are his minimalist, one-line tattoos. His work is visually simple but incredibly powerful. “Adding and adding and adding is easy. But it’s far more interesting to create with a limited set of tools,”says Ganji of his passion for minimalist tattoos. “Creating something simple with meaning is significantly more difficult than creating something complex.”

As Ganji’s repertoire continues to grow, we find ourselves dreaming of getting inked by the talented artist. We’ve collected 40 of his wonderful creations and if you’re in the market for a new tattoo, maybe one will inspire you. Be sure to check out Ganji’s Instagram for more of his incredible work.
