While this next story might just look like another little kid in love with famous actors from a really young age, we assure you it’s way more than that.

Meet Scout. This 3-year-old has a grandma named Nonie and together, they make a pretty cute pair. Nonie was recently diagnosed with cancer and while Scout might be too young to really understand what that means, kids know when something isn’t right, especially when it comes to their loved ones. When her grandma’s hair began to fall out from the chemotherapy, Scout was having a hard time dealing with her feelings.

Scout’s mom knew that she had to give her daughter a way to cope and a way to feel like she was helping, so she came up with a plant. She made a list of strong women – movie stars, singers, artists and social activists – and together, they remade famous photos of the women as a gift for Nonnie.

The project kept them both busy and came out more spectacular than the pair ever imagined. Scouts mom says it was a hard time for the whole family but that “Scout learned how much power women really have. After her diagnosis, Nonnie underwent a lot of treatments, including a double mastectomy. But the rough treatments worked and we have no doubt that Scout’s photo sessions helped keep Nonnie’s spirits up along the way. We’ve picked out some of our favorites for you to enjoy. Check it out:
